We all know old man winter is coming, and window inserts are a proven way to both cut your heating expense and be kind to our environment! Come and learn how to build them for yourself. Space is limited for this workshop -- we have up to 10 slots available to build up to 5 window inserts each.
Volunteers will guide you through the steps to build your inserts (i.e., cutting the wood for the insert frame, assembling the frame, applying plastic on each side of the frame with the aid of double-sided tape, adding foam tape to the frame and using a hair dryer to smooth out the wrinkles in the plastic). Depending upon your handiness, it takes 30-60 minutes to complete each insert.
We will provide the space, tools and expertise to help you successfully build your inserts. Each participant will cover the cost of materials -- $1.50 per sq. ft. (We also welcome donations to the Water St. Learning Center for the use of their space and electricity.) If cost is an issue, let us know...we have a few donors who will help with up to 2/3 of the expense. We want all to have access to window inserts!!!
This workshop will happen at the Water Street Learning Center in Liberty (located in the old cannery, 6 Water St.) from 9:00 am till ~2:00 pm on November 14.
